Volkskrant: Artwork of the week

"Ghostly and fairy-tale-like artwork 'Mother of Pearl'"

Xandra van der Eijk
01 04 2026

Mother of Pearl became “artwork of the week” in Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant, after a visit to the exhibiton Sensing Otherness at MU Hybrid Art House. A full-page review, juxtaposing the work with the work of 16th century artist Balthasar van der Ast, discusses the cyclical, or perhaps enduring, fascination for molluscs and their shells.

Apart from the paper edition, the article also appeared online (Dutch only).
