Robert Macfarlane: Is A River Alive?

Naming the river for the Dutch release of the book

In light of the Dutch release of the new book by author Robert Macfarlane, “Is A River Alive?” I was asked by the publisher to conceptualise a bookmark to accompany every copy sold in the Netherlands.

In the Netherlands, every section of the river that was altered received a new name. And so the Rhine and Meuse flow in disguise under many names. For this bookmark, I listed all the names the rivers go by. Two bookmarks were made, one for the Rhine, and one for the Meuse.

They were beautifully designed by Rosan Dekker for the publishing house Athenaeum.
