Hydro Bodies Assembly Workshop

Workshopping with river-kin

Xandra van der Eijk
05 12 2025

I took part in a two-day workshop led by Corpi Idrici, a multidisciplinary collective from Genova, Italy, culminating in the performance Hydro Bodies Assembly on 9 May 2025, organised by Instrument Inventors Initiative in Amsterdam.

The workshop centred on a collective reading of the Charter of Rights of Hydro Bodies, a lecture performance text drafted by Corpi Idrici. This charter served as a starting point for rethinking human relationships with bodies of water, and for considering how the rights of rivers, streams, seas and rainwater might be recognised at local, regional and national levels.

During the day I joined, we moved through multi-sensorial exercises, gathered testimonies, and collectively created a score for the collective performance.

The testimonies and sounds gathered during the workshop were reworked into a narrative by Corpi Idrici, which contributed to the Hydro Bodies Assembly Podcast, broadcast through Radio Cashmere.
